Easter Sunday Festivities

Last night, after all the eating, we watched Troy.

Elias was bummed about all the inaccuracies. All the wrong people died, and people were killed by the wrong characters (you know, if you go by Homer).

Personally, I didn't care for all the wailing music. It was the same type of music used in The Passion, and by Ed's account, Black Hawk Down. It's a bunch of women's voices moaning. It sounds kind of exotic and classic at the same time. Movies keep using music like it for violent scenes in which lots of people die. It's played out and it needs to stop.

I quite enjoyed the costumes, especially the man dresses worn in non-fighting scenes.

i like man dresses and homer and easter and so i'm commenting for the first time on kathy's blog even though i'm technologically challenged.

i also like this blog though i didn't have time to read very much which is why i appreciate the pictures. i respond better to pictures.

re: homer. elias shouldn't be so bummed about so-called inaccuracies in Troy because what little i recall from my homeric education taught me that reality and fantasy need to be reconciled, so that's all that was.

I refuse to see it. What's the point of Troy without all the gods and magic? I don't need to see Brad Pitt run around in a skirt, so screw secular versions of greek myths.

Cloudy, I only saw commercials and santized clips. Mostly, I'm just speculating and repeating things told to me by my brother. That said, I bet I could watch the passion if they took out the soundtrack.

Unlike a previous caller, I DO need to see Brad Pitt running around in a man dress. I need to see that very much.

I also saw The Passion of the Christ. The Catholic in me enjoyed about 75% of it. I didn't enjoy opening sequence (which was straight out of a horror flick) or the anti-semetic moments or the androgenous devil figure. But I LOVED the depiction of both Marys (the Virgen Mary and Mary Magdellen). Also, James Cazaviel has to be the hottest Jesus to date. No doubt. And while some people complained about the gore, this is a truly Catholic (read: gothic and morbid) movie and the violence and gore fit. Walk into any Mexican Catholic church and you'll find a bloody Christ or some other bloody saint. It's just the way we roll.

I could go on and on about this movie, but I won't.

Kathy, did you go to Easter Mass? I did. I prayed for you.

Chuy, I didn't go to mass, but I insisted on a power circle with sharing and prayer before we ate. You would have loved it.
