More Oscar Talk
Anna E., Xui, Donovan, Lucy 4, and others have commented extensively on the suckiness of Crash, but Rafi takes the cake in his most recent post. Now I know why I'll hate Crash. All the white people get easy redemption, a black man dies, and the horrible acts of people of color get equated with white power. Nice job Hollywood.

This one will REALLY make you hate it:

Kenneth Turan did a scathing piece that I rather enjoyed.

Kathy...please see the damned Crash and decide for yourself. It's just a rental.
I was emotional at one point in the movie in response to some below-the-belt trickery that played on my paternal instincts. Overall, though, I have no use for a movie about people deserving a cookie for wiping the crust from their eyes for one gd minute.
Even though I agree that Crash was not the best picture . . . the boy that dies by the way is the "good boy" so I think it showed how unfair things are for black youth but he should not have died and it was the good cop who killed him not the bad one -- even if it was predictable - how was he redeemed?
Don't you wish Wedding Crasher would have the OSCAR - now that was acting.
Paul Haggis (writer/director) is a Scientologist. YUCKO. I read this in both NYT and Time.
