Happy Thanksgiving

I resent Thanksgiving in theory, but I'm happy to see my family and eat delicious food. Special Ed is hosting us, and although only one of us is developmentally disabled (my brother Rich who is autistic), Ed acts like we all have special needs. Poor Ed. My mom is here, and she said we had to keep John on the invite list because we need the salads he and his wife will bring. Otherwise, we're disappointed that John is joining us for such a short visit. His wife has to work tomorrow. At a Walmart distribution center.

Right now, I'm most thankful for funny things. Remember the part in Zoolander where the investigatory journalist confesses she suffered from bolemia as a child? I laughed and laughed when the male model, played by Ben Stiller, thought she meant she could read minds.

But seriously -- no binging and purging today. Be moderate and keep it down.

Changing the Subject

What's with the Wal-Mart blitz on the Huffington Post today?

Recent Photos

Last weekend we took Pac'a to Half Moon Bay. What a lovely outing.

I had some ladies over for knitting the other night. Eli's sister, Indra, is working on another post-structural piece.

I'm pretty stuffy, as you can see. A good friend is turning 30, and this scarf will be hers. She doesn't read sheff's special so she'll be surprised when she unwraps it.

I Hate Exercising

I have to shame myself into to even the most abbreviated of fitness activities lately. My top shamers are Pac'a, tight clothes, and appearing unattractive. Once I'm engaged in an activity, I don't feel all glad about it. Instead, I get bummed out as I consider the fact that exercise will only work out for me if I do it regularly and for the rest of my life. Even when I'm old. Even when I'm tired.

Quote of the Day

"If I were to do another Terminator movie, I would have the Terminator travel back in time to tell Arnold not to have a special election."

- He Who Shall Not Be Named

Let's work Total Recall into our Arnold discussions.

Today Is Good

The Governator got slapped* and Joss Whedon is on Veronica Mars tonight.

* Actually, 74 and 75 were too close if you ask me. Organized labor needs to improve its image and continue to look for support and favor with voters. There should be no question about whether or not workers should have financial access to politics and policy making. There should be no doubt that 5 years is an unfair tenure period for teachers in our public schools who get paid too little to work under stressful conditions and in the face of the specific California challenges of poverty and large immigrant populations. Also, I'm worried that people won't smear Schwarzenegger's name enough to satisfy my needs. At the time of this posting, the materials online at Los Angeles Times and Huffington Post are just reporting in terms votes for and against. I want more press on how the Governator's grab was too expensive or stories that predict his future impotency.

This Is My Final Word on the Topic

Yesterday, Elias received a call from John McCain. (He never calls me). McCain was calling to warn Elias about the smear campaign against the Governator's Proposition 77. Elias hung up before hearing him out, and now I'll never know what smear campaign he's talking about.

Regardless, I hope no one I care about is swayed to vote yes. Remember. NO on 73, 74, 75, 76, 77 (even though there might be some scandalous tactics employed to defeat it), and 78.
